Nijo Hisamoto (二条尚基)

Hisamoto NIJO (1471 - November 13, 1497) was a Kugyo (the top court officials) who lived in the Muromachi period. His father was Masatsugu NIJO. His mother was Kenshi (also pronounced as Kaneko), who was an adopted child of Kanesato HIROHASHI. His child was Tadafusa NIJO. His go (byname) was Gonyohojuin. He was granted the rank of Shonii (Senior Second Rank).

Brief personal history

In 1471, he was born in Kyoto as a son of Masatsugu NIJO. On January 30, 1484, he was granted the rank of Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank). He was an uji no choja (the head of the clan).

He successively held the posts of naidaijin (inner minister, 1491 to 1497), udaijin (minister of the right, 1497), and Kanpaku (chief adviser to the Emperor, July to November, 1497). He died in 1497.
